WING's 2019 CONTENT COUNTDOWN
A maHOOsive HAPPY NEW DECADE to you all!
Here’s hoping you all had a fandabbydosey Christmas period, ‘cos we sure did. Some of our best bits from 2019 were filming at Old Trafford, going head to head with the mud on Tough Mudder, and of course our TVC for Hussle that went live last month. But now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for... the WINGers Content Countdown!
Here are the films that made our 2019…
Ben, Assistant Producer: Adidas Originals Archive Piece
Really cool and beautiful looking piece looking back at some Adidas classics from over the decade. It is super slick and stylish, and also incredibly interesting for anyone that loves sneakers.
Owen, Producer: RAF’s No Room for Clichés
Ok, nothing new and fundamentally this is just the Royal Air Force driving women into their ranks… but let's save that for another day. Why do I like it? Well because it is pretty simple, and simple is effective. The shots are full of adrenaline and action packed keeping you engaged, whilst the scarily all too familiar cliché segments juxtapose the imagery. It just landed with me (pardon the pun).
Holly, Editor: One Breath Around The World
At a time when climate change is such a hot topic, this film is a mesmerising showcase of the beauty of our oceans. It’s also a tribute to how amazing the human body is – camerawoman Julie Gautier shot the whole film while holding her breath underwater.
Matt, Designer: Crumar
The real reason the internet exists. It's a music video for Gossipo Perpetuo by French electronic pioneer Jean Jacque Perrey (released 1972) that no one asked to be made and no one realised they wanted to see.
Jonny, Associate Producer: Behind the Music, Behind the Mac
Behind the music is a great celebration of British music. It’s a great song and incredibly simple and really hammers home the old adage “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Seeing David Bowie on a Mac just brought a smile to my face.
Martha, Client Services Manager: Goodbagels, starring Robert DeNiro
Playing on old Hollywood Mafia tropes & enlisting the great Robert DeNiro, Warburtons have ensured no soggy bottoms with this piece.
Dan, Technical Assistant: Gillette’s The Best Men Can Be
A highly polarising piece, but change has always been difficult to implement. In the age where male suicide rates and mental health issues are on the rise, there has never been a more important time to talk about bullying, sexism, sexual misconduct, and toxic masculinity. Great job Gillette!
Tess, Chief Operating Officer: Succession
I can’t stop raving about this series. It is the best thing on TV since The Wire. The writing, the direction, the acting - it is all absolutely impeccable. If for some reason this has passed you by this year, go and purchase immediately and make the acquaintance of Kendall Roy. You’re welcome.
Will, Chief Attention Seeker: The 1975 with Greta Thunberg
Greta Thunberg is the person of the year for me, if not the decade. This piece moved me and the whole family to tears and action. The 1975 made it resonate with an even wider audience when they did this.
And there you have it!
2019 has been good to us WINGers - we've had so much fun and bashed out a huge number of incredible films - now bring on 2020! Wishing you a very happy new year.
