During its 92,000km world tour, title partner Coca-Cola took the official FIFA World Cup trophy to the inhabitants of Kiruna, a small mining town 300 miles into the Arctic Circle. The residents of this close knit community may be football mad, but their pitch is only free of snow for 3 months a year. Creating branded content for a specific territory within Coca-Cola’s portfolio poses many challenges. When the FIFA World Cup Trophy visited Holland we were tasked with creating a film that would sit neatly within the global campaign but stand out as a unique asset for the market. Outside of her teaching job teaching at a school in Southend, Essex, Rachael O’Brien runs a youth project in the surrounding area, offering football coaching to disadvantaged children providing focus and discipline where it is needed most…not what most girls in their early 20s are doing. So who better to suprise when the FIFA World Cup Trophy stopped off on the UK leg of its tour? In one of our most ambitious shoots ever, we turned a regular school field practice session into a full blown match day extravaganza, complete with fans, big screen and even a samba band. The winning team’s prize wasn’t too bad either…
