Meanwhile, a team of intrepid WINGers travelled to a stormy but very beautiful Scotland to shoot Aston Martin F1 film ‘The Climb’ in the Highlands for their 2022 car launch last week. We then subsequently shot a tech film for them - ‘The Road to AMR22’ - which was pulled together in less than a week. Well done to the excellent WING team as always for pushing for the best outcome possible.
In other exciting news we were thrilled to be nominated for a Sports Industry Award 2022 for our work on the 2021 Race Previews with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. Thanks to the judges for our golden ticket and good luck to all of the nominees - we can’t wait to go to the chocolate factory in May🥳
The end of January saw the formal launch of the brand new Little Dot Sport label - a specialist label that exists to realise the potential in every sporting moment, connecting premium content with fans across the world. WING is thrilled to be part of the Little Dot Sport offering, and have our own vertical within the Little Dot family.
We caught up with Robbie Spargo, director of Little Dot Sport and Will Ingham, our Creative Director, to talk all things Little Dot Sport and to give our readers a round up of what the new offering is, and what this means for WING.
Robbie explained; ‘Little Dot Sport came about after a very successful 2019, 2020, and an even better 2021, despite the challenges the sporting-world has faced.’
By 2019 Little Dot Studios’ sports business had been massively increasing with clients including Formula E, England and Wales Cricket Board, The FA, Eurosport, Red Bull, and the ICC; however, the sports side of the business didn’t yet encompass a full service offering - i.e. production, strategy, monetisation, and reporting.
By early 2020 this sports division was becoming more dedicated and specialized, and rapidly increased across all areas, including publishing, distribution, monetisation, media and insight activities. Acquiring WING in 2020 with its credentials in delivering high-end film content and creative excellence for sports bodies and brands only helped to accelerate this growth, which combined with Little Dot Studios’ understanding of data and platform algorithms provided a truly unique service offering to the sport industry.
After two years of incredible difficulties for the industry due to Covid, we as a collective have proved our value more than ever to our clients. We’ve worked across major global sports events and productions including The America's Cup, the Tour de France, the Euros, the Tokyo Olympics, produced the 8,000 Mile Auto5Graph for the British & Irish Lions tour in South Africa, created 23 x Race Previews for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, and produced the homecoming celebration for Emma Raducanu's US Open victory in 2021, which culminated in us being recognised as a leading agency in last year's Sport Industry Agency of the Year nominations.
As Robbie explained, ‘This nomination, as well as great feedback from clients helped us to feel really confident in where we were placed in the Sports Industry, and the accelerated client, staff and financial growth empowered Little Dot to take the defining step forward and launch Little Dot Sport’.
Launching the division officially as Little Dot Sport only serves to reassert where Little Dot and WING’s dual offering is, as we already boast a first class roster of 28 clients and a 60 person team dedicated to Sport at Little Dot. What it now means however, is that we can go out as a combined force in the marketplace with more of a focus, enabling us to really push for future growth and partnerships as we now have everything under one roof - from creative ideation through to distribution and monetisation.
Will added, ‘There are definitely exciting times ahead with our Little Dot Sport offer. This truly raises the bar in where we sit as an agency in the sport industry with high concept creative, enhanced production capacity and huge amplification prowess all under one roof and with a team who know how to best collaborate across these functions and work quickly, effectively and with agility bringing accountable business benefit across the board’.
We look forward to what the future holds and also to the official launch party for Little Dot Sport in April when there will be an evening reception at the Truman Brewery - keep watching this space to see what comes next for the new venture.
See you next month for another round up!
